Rio Ferdinand and Kate Wright: Newly engaged couple ‘planning baby’ straight after wedding
RIO FERDINAND and Kate Wright announced they are engaged yesterday, and now a source has claimed the duo are already planning to have a baby together in the near future.
Rio Ferdinand, 37, and Kate Wright, 27, got together in January 2016 after the football pundit lost his ex-wife Rebecca Ellison to cancer in 2015.
The retired footballer has three children with the latter, Lorenz, 11, Tate, nine, and Tia, seven.
Following their engagement news yesterday, a source has claimed they are planning children as well as a wedding.
The Sun reported how a source told them: “Rio and Kate can’t wait to have a baby.
“They will want to have one immediately after the wedding. It’s what they have always wanted.”
The insider added: “They love having a big family and a new baby would just be the icing on the cake.”
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Kate and Rio for a comment.
During the couple’s most recent family holiday to Abu Dhabi, Rio popped the question to Kate, a former The Only Way Is Essex star.
The duo could be seen celebrating their news in view of his three children on a hotel’s rooftop.
Kate uploaded a series of pictures of the special moment to her Instagram page with 923,000 followers.
She wrote: “The perfect end to our holiday… How could the answer not be yes.”
Rio also shared the pictures with his 3.3 million social media fans.
He wrote: “She said yes. How these 3 kids kept it a secret I’ll never know.”
Back in the summer, Rio admitted his three children had been on at him to marry the blonde beauty.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, he said: “They want to play a part on a wedding day.
“My little girl wants a replica dress and all this stuff.
“The kids do talk about the a lot: ‘What role am I playing? Am I holding the ring? Who’s doing this?’ They have it planned.”
Earlier this year, Kate also spoke of her experience of being a step mum to Rio’s three children.
Speaking on This Morning, she told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: “There’s a special room in the house, for their mum and their nan – they might do homework there for example.
“We always celebrate Rebecca’s birthday, we all go to cemetery together.
“We do talk about their mum, I know a lot more about her than they think.”
