As the holidays’ approaches, I crave apple cider. It was usual to make it on holidays in our house. We place it for making in the morning, mix up the spices and let it cook till evening and once it gets ready, it was gone over the night. It is so delicious and tasty that I could not get enough of it. So, whenever I think of holidays and Christmas this drink came up to my mind. What is mulled apple cider?
Before going into the detail of the recipe let me tell you what is mulled apple cider is. If you are not well aware of it before, this will help you know and make your mind to taste it at least once. It is an apple cider that is flavored up with spices and citrus. It is called mulled as it gets cooked and thickened over the stove for some time and to allow all the spices to mix. It is well spiced and hence termed mulled. It is usually served warm and is so tasty to drink.
Ingredients required for mulled apple cider
To make the perfectly mulled and delicious apple cider you need to have all the ingredients and should follow the recipe step by step carefully. Following is the recipe you should follow to make perfect cider at your bar.
- Apple juice or apple cider (1 gallon unfiltered)
- 1 orange cut into slices
- Cinnamon sticks
- 4-star anise
- Whole cloves (1 tablespoon)
- Whole allspice (1 tablespoon)
- 1 sliced ginger root
- 1/2 cup spiced up rum
It is so easy to make, just have the ingredients and throw everything in the pot and put it over the stove to thicken. This is also one of the reasons I love it so much that ingredients are so simple and yet so delicious. The taste of all spices, the cloves, star anise, and the cinnamon will warm you and your taste buds up, and yes, the rum, will add to flavor too. This is a must-try this year. It will take about five minutes for preparing the materials, 3-4 hours for cooking over the stove, and will end up making 16 glasses for you to enjoy your cocktail.

- Take a pot or any other utensil that is suitable for you to cook according to your quantity.
- Slice the orange and chop the ginger root.
- Pour the apple juice into that bowl or pot and place it on the stove for cooking.
- Add all the other ingredients and spices into it.
- If you have a spice ball use that and add clove and allspice into that. It will help you made cleaning up easier afterward.
- Mix everything and let it cook.
- Bring the mixture to boil and reduce to simmer for 2-3 hours.
- Add rum to it.
- Remove fruits and spices from it and pour in glasses to serve,
You can garnish it with orange slices or cinnamon stick but this step is optional.
