Jose Mourinho, Paul Pogba and Zinedine Zidane could all be on the move.

Boffins in the lab have been working out just how high a concentration of Manchester United news can be contained over the course of a single day, and it appears that they are now straining at the very limits.

First up for United is the news that Zinedine doesn’t just like the idea of managing at Old Trafford. No, he wants it, sweats and and is learning English in preparation for it. He has apparently turned down offers of work elsewhere in order to make sure that his available when ersatz director of football and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward finally pulls the trigger on Jose Mourinho. Given how long it took him to get rid of Louis van Gaal, he may be waiting some time.

Elsewhere it appears that Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic have decided that they need to raise spirits in the dressing room and quell dissent, where quiet man Antonio Valencia is not able or willing to speak up amongst the rest of the players.

And in yet another story from The Sun, Woodward is standing strong against Paul Pogba’s determination to leave United as soon as he can. Woodward doesn’t actually like Pogba because he’s good at football, but because he can market tractors and noodles like nobody else in the world. That kind of talent doesn’t come cheap, and Barcelona have been priced out of a move.

Mendy pushing his luck at City
Across the city, Benjamin Mendy might be pushing his luck with boss Pep Guardiola. Guardiola has already had to ask Mendy to tone things down on social media, but it appears a more serious transgression has left him on the naughty step.

The French international has hacked off his Spanish manager by failing to turn up to treatment on time after attending the Anthony Joshua fight last Saturday, instead appearing three hours late. And the Friday before, he was banned from driving for a year after failing to co-operate with the police over numerous driving offences. This consistently poor discipline might see him head for the exit door.

Grealish’s new Villa deal might scare off suitors
Further down the league pyramid comes news from Aston Villa. Jack Grealish has a new contract at the club after being repeatedly linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

In return for signing a new deal, he gets £45,000 a week in wages, but has agreed a release clause to clarify matters for any lurkers looking for a cheap deal. He is available for £45 million, which is a little steep for a 23-year-old with little experience in the top flight, but that will probably keep him at the club for another season after this if they gain promotion.

If they don’t, however, Villa’s Financial Fair Play problems might see them reduce the asking price below any contractual entitlement.
