90’s kids know the worth of owning a console box and CD games. It was a time when the console industry was growing up along with the gaming industry. Many of us would have had a console with a collection of CD or DVD games. If any of you have a library of original XBOX games, you must be thinking about how to play them today.
Well, the good news is that many XBOX original games are compatible with the XBOX 360 and are playable. You may have to download one or two updates for the games to work smoothly. But it is not at all impossible. But how do we achieve that? Find out in the steps below:
1. Installing The Drive
Most of the Xbox 360 consoles come with a hard drive by default. However, some version does not have the hard drive originally which include Arcade, Core, and S versions. So, for these models, you need to install an extra hard drive that can store the Xbox original emulation software. This would also allow you to save the XBOX original game data.
One important thing to note here is that you need to have an official Microsoft hard drive for this purpose. You cannot use a third party hard drive as it won’t work.
Next thing is to use the transfer cable and CD to copy your data from Xbox 360 to the hard drive. After that, remove the side panel for the Xbox 360 and plug the hard drive into your Xbox 360.
2. Connect to the Internet
The next step is to connect your Xbox 360 to the internet. You have to do this to download updates that are required to play Xbox original games. You can connect to Xbox live from the settings menu. You need to have an Xbox live account for this process. If you don’t have one, you will be guided through the process. Just follow the steps.
3. Install the Updates
Once you have connected to the store. Find the latest available updates, download them, and install them on your system. These updates will allow you to install the emulation software required to play Xbox original games.
If you are connected to Xbox live your system will automatically download and install updates whenever they are available. You need to have a strong internet connection for that purpose. If you do not have an internet connection. You can search for a system updates disc at your nearest retail store. It is important to have the newer released update to run the games smoothly.
4. Ready to Play?
After you have successfully installed all the updates, the next step is to pick your favorite game CD from your old collection. Insert it in your Xbox 360 console and wait for the magic. Setting up the console before that is important. Make sure you use the original Xbox video cable so that you may not encounter any display problems.
The game will automatically start once it is inserted properly. One thing you need to ensure before this is that the game you want to play must be compatible with Xbox 360. You can search the internet to find out which all Xbox original games can run on 360.
