Over the years I have talked to various Kettering florist. After carefully analyzing everything, I have come up with 6 principles that can help you keep your business afloat and maintain a steady revenue.  

  1. Understanding your flower sale demographics  

The first thing that you need to do is find out the demographics of your customer. You need to understand that what category of people mostly buys flowers from you. Once you have assessed that, then you can find the target market that you need to focus on.

For example, if most of your customers are women above 35 then your target market is women below age 35. Now, you can make use of social media to run ads that target this particular segment.  

  1. Floral wire service   

I have found out that several of the Kettering florists are associated with floral wire service. Yet, most of them are unable to make a profit from it. Profit doesn’t mean making a few grand. Instead, it means that whatever you earn compensates for all of the time and energy that you spent.

So, if you are not making a good profit from floral wire service, then there is no point in wasting your resources on it. You are simply wasting your resources on something that is not generating a healthy profit.  

  1. Think outside the flower box   

Selecting merchandise for your shop is a very time-consuming step. Additionally, every square inch of the shop has a price associated with it. So, if you have old items that don’t sell then take them out of the shop. Only keep those items in a shop that sells. Use that space for opening a floral bar. Put some empty baskets for customers to come and make their DIY flower bouquet. Also, display some pet items in your shop. You can also open a coffee bar within your floral shop.  

  1. Watch your waste   

A successful businessman always keeps an eye on all aspects. Even the items that are going to go to waste. High amounts of waste are generated in the floral business. Every item that ended up as waste also had a price associated with it. So, you need to find out ways to reduce waste generation. An important approach in this regard is to have only as much stock as you can easily sell before it wilts. 

  1. Floral marketing   

Understanding how to market your product to different demographic groups is a very challenging process. The goal is to start small and then build up your marketing strategy around it. You can start by sending out emails to your customers.

By being associated with social media communities. Getting associated with corporate and restaurant sector. Additionally, you can start a wedding and catering page on google to attract more people.  

  1. Exceptional customer service   

In any field of business, the key to success is exceptional customer service. Nowadays everyone tends to pass comments on a company on social media. So, it is imperative that you treat all of your customers in the best possible way.

Your staff needs to be highly trained and disciplined. Additionally, you should have complete knowledge about your business and the products that you are offering. Customer service is not about giving discounts. Instead, it is all about care, attention, and delivery.
