If you’re a nail chewer you know that nail polish won’t stop you from biting your nails, you only end up ingesting your nails AND nail polish.
But fear not, now you can have yummy chicken flavored fingers as KFC launches an edible nail polish line that’s as “Finger Lickin’ Good” as their other products.
As a promotion for KFC Hong Kong, the fried chicken chain launches two flavors and two colors of the edible nail polish, Original a chicken flesh nude and Hot & Spicy, a bright orange shade.
One advertising executive explains the campaign intends “to remind the younger generation of the great taste and good times the brand stands for.”
Ogilvy & Mather developed the edible nail polishes using McCormick spices which give them the fried chicken flavor. Marketing director for Ogilvy & Mather Anna Mugglestone explains: “I tried it myself in the office when they were doing testing. It tastes like chicken. It’s crazy. I don’t know how they do it.”
“The recipe for our edible nail polish is unique and was specifically designed to hold the flavor, but to also dry with a glossy coat similar to normal nail polish,” Ogilvy & Mather creative director John Koay told AdWeek. “This campaign is designed to be intriguing and fun to increase excitement around the KFC brand in Hong Kong.”
The commercial for the KFC “Finger Lickin‘ Good” nail polishes is just as weird as you’d expect it to be:
