Shillong, Meghalaya – Scotland of India

Shillong is situated at an altitude of 1,491 meters above sea level and this beautiful city is the capital of Meghalaya and a famous hill station. This is the first such hill station in the country where one can go from all sides. Shillong Hill Station is also known as the “Scotland of India” due to its abode of clouds and its idyllic hills. Its highest point is 6,449 feet high. Meghalaya means the House of Clouds and there are many hill stations, the shilling is one of them. This waterfall is one of the tallest waterfalls in India and falls from a height of about 1033 feet. Nohsingithiang Falls is located in Mawsmai village of Meghalaya.

4.   Khasi Hills

The Khasi Hills, which are included in the tourist places of Shillong, have been named after the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya. The Khasi Hills are a part of the Garo-Khasi Range and are known as a part of the Badi Patkai range of hills. Asia’s second largest river island “Nongkhum Island” is also at this attractive place.

5.   Jakrem Falls

Jakarm is a famous hot spring of sulfur in Shillong. Shillong is located at a distance of about 64 kilometers from the city. This place is popular among the locals as hot springs.
